An Environmental Clearance process is required for 39 types of projects and covers aspects like screening, scoping and evaluation of the upcoming project. The main purpose is to assess impact of the planned project on the environment and people, and to try to abate / minimize the impact. Environmental Clearance have been made mandatory due to the enormous increasing impacts of construction related projects especially residential, townships, institutes, commercial buildings and/or other infrastructure activities on environment through addition of high density population leading to extensive resource consumption and exponential waste generation being difficult to handle by the civic or other local authorities. Thereby the efforts of waste / environment management need to be rested up on by the developers themselves and thereby EC requires individual developers to take the call on formulation of environmental management strategies for effective compliance with the State / National Standards by a building progress report.
